Specialists in surfacing minerals, we control the rock production and transformation chain from A to Z. We operate quarries in France and several other countries around the world to extract primary rock. From this raw material, we design and transform all types of surfacing minerals into natural, treated, or colored products. These products are mainly intended for use as roofing for industrial buildings or individual homes. Our products are sold to roofing professionals - manufacturers of bituminous membranes, metal tiles, shingles, or roof tiles.
Extraction / Quarry Operations
We’ve been rock extraction specialists for more than sixty years. We operate our own quarries or quarries located near our production sites. Our knowledge of extraction, its processes, and development, allows us to benefit from a reliable and complete supply source to meet all needs in the production of surfacing minerals.
Industrial Transformation
We design and transform all types of surfacing minerals in the form of slate flakes, granules, or sand. Our products are made from high-quality raw materials (shale for the slate flakes, metamorphic rock for the granules), the supply of which we control since they come directly from the quarries that we operate or from our longstanding partnerships with local suppliers.
This integrated operation allows us to guarantee optimal economic conditions, with consistent quality and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Development of Specific Products
To meet the needs of all our customers, our R&D teams develop different treatment or coloring solutions for our products, using constantly improving technologies. Our detailed knowledge of working with rock—proven for more than sixty years—allows us to offer products with varied characteristics: thermal, aesthetic, anti-dust, reflective, insulation properties, etc.

A High-Quality Requirement
A monitoring plan guarantees control of manufacturing quality throughout the production chain. Controls are carried out from the extraction of the rock through each stage of production (particle size, colorimetry, etc.) to the laboratory (physical-technical tests).
Our checks are carried out with state-of-the-art equipment such as a colorimeter and a video granulometer.
Our quality management system, based on the ISO9001 standard, makes it possible to meet the requirements of our customers, in particular by providing them with answers to all their analysis needs. Our quality approach guarantees the conformity of the delivered product.
Carlac Minerals has two laboratories, one in France and the other in the Czech Republic. They are responsible for quality control, listening to customer feedback, as well as R&D.
We continually carry out Research and Development work, testing new raw materials, creating “greener” products or new formulations, optimizing costs, and improving production.
