Our group, Carlac Minerals

Our History

The origin of Carlac Minerals Group dates back to 1946 when the roofing company Heriau Couverture was founded. The company began by responding to the demand for roofing projects for historic monuments. To satisfy its customers, the company invested directly in quarry mining, as well as in tools for grinding, processing, and coloring the extracted rock. Building on its knowledge and the quality of its products, it continued its growth in France and internationally, even purchasing sites abroad.

Today, the Carlac Minerals Group has seven production sites and employs 250 people. It offers more than a hundred mineral products for roofing, waterproofing, mulching, and material filler.

Our Activities and Our Expertise

As an industrial specialist in surfacing minerals, we control the entire rock production and transformation chain. First, we extract primary rocks from quarries, then we design and transform them into all types of surfacing minerals. These natural, treated, or colored products are then sold to roofing professionals (manufacturers of bituminous membranes, metal tiles, shingles, or roof tiles) for industrial or residential buildings.

Extraction / Operation of Quarries

We are specialists in rock extraction. We operate our own quarries or quarries located near our production sites.

Industrial Transformation

We design and transform all types of surfacing minerals in the form of slate flakes, granules or sand.

Development of Specific Products

To meet the needs of all of our customers, our R&D teams develop different treatment and coloring solutions for our products.

Our values

Which values inspire us? Loyalty, team spirit, and a constant desire to do the job well. These qualities make Carlac Minerals a leading family industrial group on a global scale.

Adapting to the Needs of Each Client

Thanks to our ability to control the entire production chain, we can respond to all special requests; always guaranteeing consistent quality. Our quality department carries out checks at each stage of production, from extraction to storage of the finished product.
This completely integrated organization allows us to meet deadlines and gives us great agility to adapt to the urgent needs of our customers.

Optimizing Resource Use

We are committed to preserving resources. Whether we’re producing slate flakes, granules, or sand, we recover waste to optimize the use of the raw material by discarding as little as possible.

A Strong Societal Impact

The Carlac Minerals group actively invests in the communities where we operate, fostering engagement through patronage that enables us to play a vital role in local life.

Decades ago, we implemented a profit-sharing policy for our employees, underscoring our dedication to their well-being. Regarding heritage, we reinvest in our land, prioritizing environmental commitments. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy is rapidly evolving, with a particular focus on advancing renewable energies and offsetting carbon emissions.
